My Beach Babes

The Hubs and I debated for a long time. A year and a half, actually. And finally, we decided to just. do. it.
So, after lots of prayer, pinterest-searching, and a visit to our local library where I checked out nearly every "vroom-vroom"-related DVD, book on CD and cardboard-bound (read: indestructible) book, we made a leap of faith. And drove. 15 hours. to the beach. with a toddler.
And you know what? Daisy was heavenly. Honestly, I expected the worst, but she was so content (okay, sleepy) that she hardly made a peep. And...not once (on the drive there or back) did we have to bust out the portable DVD player. Positive proof, my friends, that there's no obstacle you can't tackle with the power of prayer and a library card.

Some highlights from our first day at the beach:

Daisy's first reaction to the ocean: Amazement.
Until...

The water. touched. her. toes.
Sooo not okay. At all.
Good thing Nanni Phi was on hand for moral support.

I think it's safe to say the hubs had a great time, though.

With the exception of last year, I can't remember a summer when I didn't visit my aunt's beach house.
It was good to get back.

Another unexpected reaction to the beach: It knocked Daisy out. Completely.
Guess that's what happens when you set a kid's sound machine to the "ocean" setting since birth...

Swimsuits:

Mine: H&M (I think it was on crazy sale for something under $20)
Hubs: H&M ($7)
Daisy: c/o Daisy & Dolly Designs

This. Guy.

Drove 15 hours to Florida and back again. Mostly nights. So that Daisy and I could sleep through the drudgery of a road trip.

Photos and details of Daisy's first real vacation to come, but I just had to get that shout-out to my baby-daddy first. Daisy and I are so glad he's "stuck" with us for life.

Love you to the moon and back, "Dada". Thanks for taking such delicate care of your girls,

Macarooned

Daddy's home! All is well in Daisy World.
He even came home bearing gifts! Exhibit A, my new sundress:

(He did sooo good, right? I think he, and the dress, are keepers for sure.)

To celebrate our first morning together again, we decided to try out the little French cafe down the road. Daisy thought this would be the perfect occasion to wear the cupcake halter Nanni made her:

(She simply refuses to leave the house these days without her hat and purse.)

Brunch did not disappoint. Daisy was in Macaroon heaven.

Happy weekend! Hope you're spending it with your nearest and dearest as well!

Mushy macaroon kisses,

tutus & kimonos

Seeing as it's my first blog post, I figure it's fitting that these photos pretty much sum up our summer: lazy Daisy-chasing afternoons at the pool.
Only this time Daisy got to break in her new suit from Nanni. When you're under the age of 5, a tutu is appropriate attire for any and every occasion. So not fair.

Can't complain too much though, 'cause hey, kimonos are in style! Multi-functional closet gold, my friend. Since finding this bad boy, I've worn it as a cover up, thrown over shorts and a tank, and belted over a dress. I can't wait to layer it under jackets and vests once if the weather starts cooling off.

I feel like enough can never be said about the wonder of a black bathing suit. Yes, it is sleek, concealing, and flattering to nearly every body type, but what I love most is its consistency. You see, unlike most colors, there are no varying degrees of black. Which is perfect if you're like me and prefer to mix and match swim separates.

Sunnies: Charming Charlie
Kimono: Forver21
Top: on sale at H&M
Bottoms: Spanx, Target
Sandals: T.J. Maxx (old)
